Stephen Krashen is a well-known American linguist whosework in the field of second language acquisition theory hasbeen very influential since the 1980s. He proposed a set ofhypotheses to account for second language learning andthe ‘affective filter’ is one of them. According to Krashen’stheory, the affective filter is
