A man in the Netherlands who was paralyzed in a cycling accident is now able to walk again thanks to a device that connects his brain to his spine via Bluetooth connectivity.
After suffering life-changing injuries during his accident in China in 2011, 40-year-old Gert-Jan Oskam was told that he'd never walk again after it was found that his neck had been broken.
But thanks to the implant that reads brain waves and sends instructions wirelessly to his spine, Oskam is now once again able to utilize the muscles required to stand and walk.
