According to Jenkins (2012), English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) is “a means of communication between people who come from different first language backgrounds.”. Based on this definition and also on the many studies on ELF so far, we can say that:
  1. ATeachers must adhere strictly to native-speaker norms.
  2. BGrammar should never be taught, since the focus of ELF is on pronunciation.
  3. CTeachers must be aware of the great variety of accents from the students´ first languages.
  4. DVocabulary classes must be taught in the students´ first language.
  5. EThe teachers don´t need to correct the students´ errors on language form.
